The Flinders Ports Passenger Terminal at Outer Harbor is the gateway to Adelaide for cruise ships, and passengers are now being welcomed to the region through the newly refurbished Passenger Terminal.

The Passenger Terminal has been in operation for 45 years, and has been treated to a fresh look with Flinders Ports, in conjunction with Tourism SA, renewing the foyer area, escalators, outer stairs and lifts. Additional back-up power generation has also been installed to retain power during any power outages.

The Passenger Terminal has seen 17 cruise ships visit so far during the cruise season with 20 more expected, and Flinders Ports General Manager, Captain Carl Kavina, is pleased with the improvements to the terminal.

“The upgrades are welcome change to the Passenger Terminal as we expect in excess of 100,000 visitors to call on our region this year, and we are thrilled to be able to welcome them to Adelaide through our newly refurbished Passenger Terminal”.

In addition to the building refurbishments, Flinders Ports carried out the professional restoration of a large mural, painted by iconic Adelaide artist, Dr Thomas Gleghorn. The mural, painted in 1973, was reinstalled in the terminal looking brand new.  Flinders Ports invited Dr Gleghorn to visit the artwork, and spoke to him about the process and inspiration behind the piece that he created over 40 years ago.
