About the role

We are seeking to appoint a Communication and Marketing Coordinator to be based at our Head Office in Port Adelaide.

This position reports directly to the General Manager, Group Development and will be responsible for providing communication and marketing direction for the organisation. This includes administering sponsorship and award applications, publications, events, associated budgets and website management as well as ensuring that major promotional activities have appropriate communication and marketing strategies. 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • implement marketing plans for Flinders Port Holdings Group
  • drive, create, develop and manage communication and marketing campaigns for internal & external stakeholders
  • produce, coordinate and manage all marketing and advertising collateral for the Group, in line with Corporate Identity Guidelines. Includes brochures, corporate communications, media releases, presentations, newsletters and other communication material.  Software programs may include, but not limited to Adobe, InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere
  • liaise with external services providers as appropriate
  • undertake communication activities to promote and support business to the workforce, community and service providers through media, stakeholder engagement and other promotional and marketing activities
  • maintain and manage the website(s) and internal intranet content and social media pages for the Group by managing the writing, editing and researching of appropriate content and information for online publication; ensuring information complies with relevant policies, guidelines and standards and keeping information current and relevant
  • carry out research and present information and initiatives
  • manage the community sponsorship and marketing budgets for the Group, which includes monthly reviewing of spending and generating budget proposals for the next financial year
  • ensure that media monitoring is carried out and reported to General Managers & other stakeholders regularly. The material collected to consist of any media output that makes reference to Flinders Port Holdings or any of its business entities, its activities and topics of interest
  • point of contact for all media enquiries, which includes fielding enquiries from print, TV and radio
  • subject to the Group’s Media Policy, drafting and responding to media enquiries in a timely and professional manner.  All media releases are subject to CEO and/or General Manager prior approval processes.

Working Hours

This is a permanent full-time position; however, we are also happy to work with you as the successful candidate to make this position yours and offer as a part-time / flexible hours.

About the role

We are seeking to appoint a Group Risk and Assurance Manager to be based at our Head Office in Port Adelaide.

Reporting to the Company Secretary and General Counsel the core of this position is to manage the enterprise risk and assurance function for the Flinders Port Holdings Group including managing the Group’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework and by setting, and ensuring the effective delivery of the Group’s internal audit program.

Key Responsibilities include:

Risk Management

  • Responsible for managing the Group’s Risk Management Framework including but not limited to the implementation of the three lines of defence, enhancing the Group’s approach to risk appetite and risk culture.
  • Provide practical risk advisory services to stakeholders, including risk profiling, control assurance, oversight, compliance, incident management and knowledge governance.
  • Conduct risk assessments on new and existing business operations, key projects and initiatives and identify and/or recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies and best practices.
  • Prepare risk management reporting and insights to senior management.
  • Respond to, manage and mitigate the impact of risk events, breaches and incidents.
  • Provide support to develop and implement risk management training and awareness programs across the Group.


  • Design and implement Internal Audit program and supporting audit tools, with focus on assurance outcomes for key enterprise risks / material controls, and maintaining certifications.
  • Undertake internal audits.
  • Facilitate external audit processes required to supplement Internal Audit program.
  • Provide monthly reporting on enterprise assurance activities to Board.

Working Hours

This is a permanent full-time position based at our head office in Port Adelaide, however you will be required to travel to our other ports and locations throughout not only Adelaide but South Australia.

Marine pilots are employed by Flinders Ports to help Captains safely navigate their vessels to the berth once they enter the port’s waters.

This role is a crucial role for Flinders Ports because a marine pilot’s skill and knowledge ensure that ships arriving in port do not run aground, collide with other vessels or run into infrastructure, such as navigation buoys.

All marine pilots are required to hold a Master Class 1 Certificate of Competency.

A Marine Services Team employee may be employed to carry out mooring, deckhand or maintenance related duties as well as Pilot Launch Master duties at any of Flinders Ports locations. Employees are required to work on an as needs casual basis when shipping operations demand and are remunerated in accordance with the Enterprise Agreement.

The container terminal offers a wide range of roles involving the use of high risk equipment, maintenance and general stevedoring.

Flinders Logistics offers material handling and transport logistic services, providing scoping and feasibility studies on tailored logistics solutions to meet a range of client needs. Services provided are as a mobile plant operator and are part of a multi-skilled team based in Port Pirie.
The team will also be involved in loading and unloading of cargo in which Flinders Logistics has an involvement.
