Role Overview

Based at Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal and reporting directly to the Stevedoring Manager your key requirements in this position will be to implement strategic improvements to our systems and processes to provide long term process improvement by managing labour resourcing/ workload levels through allocations, labour budget costs, performance management and workforce planning/ forecasting.

Other responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Identify staffing numbers, training needs and development requirements to meet the organisation strategic goals
  • Identify and implement changes to systems and processes that provide ongoing and continuous optimisation of the organisations labour assets
  • Maintain skills training matrix, and an understanding of operational needs, to ensure skills are maintained to meet clients’ operational demands
  • Understand and work with the Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal EBA, ensuring Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal are meeting the requirements of this document while minimising labour costs and financial impacts

About the applicant

To be successful in this role, the applicant will have previous experience or knowledge in heavy industry which could be maritime/marine/stevedoring, material handling, logistics, mining and construction or transport operations.

Experience working within a unionised environment and under an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) will be advantageous for the successful applicant.

The applicant will be resilient in nature, be able to work unsupervised whilst being consistent in your approach in providing leadership and management skills.

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Business Systems Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring that business applications and systems projects meet all organizational requirements. The role requires a flexible person who can comfortably work in either a Project Management capacity or act as a Business Analyst when required. Working full-time, Monday to Friday, you will also provide specialist support for a range of business applications and systems, developing strong customer service relationships with internal users as well as external vendors and third party service providers.

Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Project manage the implementation of new business systems, enhancements, and upgrades in accordance with Group policies and processes
  • Manage, maintain, and provide specialist support for a range of business applications and systems
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to define business requirements, performance expectations and service levels for specific line of business applications
  • Planning and prioritisation of application enhancements, upgrades, and changes in accordance with Group policies and processes
  • Identify opportunities to use business applications and systems more effectively to improve operational efficiency and streamline processes

Marine pilots are employed by Flinders Ports to help Captains safely navigate their vessels to the berth once they enter the port’s waters.

This role is a crucial role for Flinders Ports because a marine pilot’s skill and knowledge ensure that ships arriving in port do not run aground, collide with other vessels or run into infrastructure, such as navigation buoys.

All marine pilots are required to hold a Master Class 1 Certificate of Competency.

A Marine Services Team employee may be employed to carry out mooring, deckhand or maintenance related duties as well as Pilot Launch Master duties at any of Flinders Ports locations. Employees are required to work on an as needs casual basis when shipping operations demand and are remunerated in accordance with the Enterprise Agreement.
