Marine Maintenance Team Member - Flinders Ports, Adelaide
About the role
We are seeking to appoint a Marine Maintenance Team Member (Team E) at Flinders Ports.
Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader you will be required to assist with performing repairs to Flinders Ports Infrastructure in and around the Berths and also repairs, maintenance and minor capital works on Flinders Ports Facilities.
You will also be required to:
- Conduct works on wharf infrastructure including Fender Repairs and Maintenance
- Undertake workshop fabrication works to assist maintenance/repair activities
- Conduct Bulk & Detailed Earthworks
- Fence Construction and Maintenance
- Undertake pile wrapping and surface treatment works to marine structures
- Undertake Pavement Repairs
- Footing and Foundation Construction
- Building Repairs
- Demolition of structures
- Operate medium sized mechanical plant, i.e. cranes, skid steer loaders, forklifts
To be successful in this position you will possess a good working attitude and be confident in problem solving, whilst working both autonomously or within a team and able to demonstrate a strong work ethic.
You will also have experience with Risk Assessments (JSEA) and are committed to safe work practices.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Formal trade qualifications as a Boilermaker/ Steel Welders/ Maintenance Fitter etc. or Certificate III in Engineering Production
- Relevant formal trade qualifications with the building and construction industries
- Have a High Risk Licence – LF, EWP, C2, DG
- Experience working in construction and fabrication and maintenance
- Experience with using a variety of power tools
- Certificates in WHS particularly risk and hazard management
- Ability to conduct and interpret JSEAs
- Intermediate PC skills – operation of Maximo, use of spreadsheets etc
- Strong communication and team skills
- Already hold, or be eligible for, a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC). This involves obtaining a National Police Check
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in OXY/ MIG/ ARC/ TIG welding
- Be able to interpret, read and understand drawings and the instructions
- Experience in welding Stainless Steel/ Aluminium
- Structural welding experience to AS1554
- Coxswains certificate of competency
- Bobcat, Reach Stacker and/ or Truck Licence

This is a Full Time – contract opportunity until September 2021 and will require the successful applicant to work as a day worker (Monday to Friday) in accordance with the Enterprise Agreement.
Normal operation hours for this position would be Monday to Friday day shift (38 hours per week).
This position may also require the successful candidate to travel to intrastate ports when required on an ad-hoc basis as well as drive to various locations in Adelaide (for this you must hold a current drivers licence).
The remuneration will be aligned to the Flinders Ports Enterprise Agreement.

Future Opportunities - Marine Pilot
Marine pilots are employed by Flinders Ports to help Captains safely navigate their vessels to the berth once they enter the port’s waters.
This role is a crucial role for Flinders Ports because a marine pilot’s skill and knowledge ensure that ships arriving in port do not run aground, collide with other vessels or run into infrastructure, such as navigation buoys.
All marine pilots are required to hold a Master Class 1 Certificate of Competency.
Future Opportunities - Marine Services Team Member
A Marine Services Team employee may be employed to carry out mooring, deckhand or maintenance related duties as well as Pilot Launch Master duties at any of Flinders Ports locations. Employees are required to work on an as needs casual basis when shipping operations demand and are remunerated in accordance with the Enterprise Agreement.

Flinders Logistics offers material handling and transport logistic services, providing scoping and feasibility studies on tailored logistics solutions to meet a range of client needs. Services provided are as a mobile plant operator and are part of a multi-skilled team based in Port Pirie.
The team will also be involved in loading and unloading of cargo in which Flinders Logistics has an involvement.
Future Opportunities - Logistics Operations Team Member (Casual), Adelaide
Provide services as a mobile plant operator and a range of other services as part of a multi-skilled team at Flinders Logistics locations but predominantly based in Port Adelaide.
The team will also be involved in rail yard operations at 29 Berth, Port Adelaide and loading and unloading of ships using mobile harbour cranes.

Flinders Warehousing & Distribution is new a division of Flinders Logistics, offering a solution for customers to their warehousing needs with close access to import and export transport facilities.
