Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal has been announced as a finalist with CU River Mining at the prestigious Australian Bulk Handling Awards, which will take place in Sydney on 24 November. The joint nomination is a contender for the Bulk Handling Facility of the Year Award (Resources & Infrastructure). The shortlisting recognises Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal and CU River Mining’s team work, which has brought new efficiencies into the supply chain and reactivated South Australian exports of iron-ore.

Mr Steve Cox, General Manager of Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal said, “We really appreciate the opportunity to work with CU River on this project to re-active an important export supply chain for the South Australian resources sector.”

Now in its eleventh year, the Australian Bulk Handling Awards showcase best practice in Australia’s bulk handling sector. The annual event is organised by the Australian Bulk Handling Review to celebrate excellence and outstanding achievement in bulk handling.

Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal and CU River Mining have been shortlisted in the Resources & Infrastructure category along with Ahrens Group, Metso & Monier, WPB Parsons Brinckerhoff & Glencore Coal.

“My team is honoured to have been selected with CU River Mining as an awards finalist by the judging panel,” Mr Cox said.

Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal has operated since July 2012 when Flinders Port Holdings gained 100 per cent ownership of the Adelaide Container Terminal from DP World South Australia. Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal aims to be recognised as the most efficient and customer focussed container terminal operator in Australia. In 2015, the Container Terminal, which is located in Outer Harbor, South Australia, handled approximately 380,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), and stevedored 364 container ships.
