Located in South Australia’s Upper Spencer Gulf, the Spencer Gulf Deep Water Pilotage Network (SPN) provides safe access for deep-draft bulk carriers servicing the Whyalla offshore transhipment point.

On behalf of the South Australian Government, Flinders Ports administers the pilotage service, managing vessel movements along the Spencer Gulf Deep Water Route to ensure the safe and efficient transit of Cape-size vessels between the transhipment point and the open sea.

The Spencer Gulf Port Rules outline the operational requirements and navigational guidance for commercial vessels operating within the pilotage area. Masters, owners and agents should familiarise themselves with these requirements before commencing a transit
