Flinders Port Holdings is undertaking a multi-year remediation project at Wallaroo Jetty to maintain this vital asset for the community and maritime workers. Commencing in March 2025, Stages 1 and 2 have now been successfully completed across bents 0–84, with Stage 3 scheduled to begin on 9 November 2026.

Scope of Works

The works are being delivered by our contractor Maritime Constructions and involve a range of repair and remediation activities, including:

  • timber and steel pile repairs
  • structural beam and bracing upgrades
  • concrete deck remediation
  • timber deck replacement
  • solar lighting upgrades
  • pedestrian and vehicle delineation
  • installation of new safety access ladders
  • new fencing
  • construction of a new substructure beneath the substation/switch room area.

The photo below shows the substructure works during construction.

Stage 3 Works

Access arrangements

To ensure the safety of all port users during Stage 3, the section of jetty between bents 82–108 will be closed to the public until mid-May 2027. While a 3.5-metre-wide roadway will remain available for port operations, this area will be too narrow to safely accommodate both operational vehicles and the public. Traffic management measures, including temporary fencing and signage, will be in place to manage vehicle and equipment movements and restrict public access to the area.

The image below shows the work area delineation, with the construction zone highlighted in yellow and the operational zone in blue.

To minimise disruption to the public, the section of jetty between bents 0–82 will be fully accessible during the works, however, the operational section beyond bent 108 will remain closed for maintenance. For further information regarding jetty closures, please visit our website Portmis.
